When to See a Fertility Doctor

Clear guidance on when to seek medical help, and what to expect.

The general rule

If a couple has been trying to conceive for 12 months without success (or 6 months if the female partner is over 35), both partners should be evaluated. Male-factor issues are involved in roughly half of cases, so men should be checked too.

Sooner is reasonable if there are known issues, past injury, surgery, infections, or hormonal symptoms.

What a check involves

Usually a simple semen analysis and a conversation about history and lifestyle. It is straightforward and routine for the clinic.

No shame, just data

Fertility is a medical topic, not a measure of worth. Getting tested is the fastest way to replace worry with a plan.
